Re “A Salty Message for Zirgulis from Chardiet Supporter”
Has the sniping for November’s School Board election begun so early? It appears fellow candidate Laura Chardiet's supporter or shill, Jan Lozford, has been critisizing me because I am in Europe when she says, “Come back to Culver City.”
I'm somewhat confused, however, because in the next breath she says, “Mr. Zirgulis, please stay in Europe and defend our country's First Amendment…”
Guess it is damned if you do, damned if you don't. Ms. Lozford, I will defend with my last breath your right to make a buffoon of yourself also.
On another note, I am impressed how the Scandinavian countries start teaching English as a second language from the age of 7 until the students need to pass an English exam in order to graduate. By sixth grade, students are also given a chance to learn a third language.
I would like to expand our language programs at our schools and also add an option of introducing “Rosetta Stone” courses to offer other language opportunities for our students.
I am now off to visit my son who is a professor in Lithuania. He attended all Culver City schools. I am grateful that he was educated in Culver City.
