Re “Zirgulis Lashes Back at Critics, by Name, Twice — He Vows Not to Back Down

Whoever sent that email to School Board candidate Robert Zirgulis sure has an inside track on Culver City politics.

Or should I say they have probably been a victim of Culver City politics?

Mr. Zirgulis is right when he said running for the School Board is about the best education for our children.

The problem is, a lot of people in Culver City seek public office not for the education of the children or improving the community; they seek office for their own personal gain.

I am not that familiar with the federal grants that the Culver City School District receives.

But if the School District operates like City Hall, the grants received are minimal.

Why doesn’t Culver City go after all of the federal grant money available?

The answer is accountability.

Federal grant money is strictly regulated on how you spend the money, and it must be properly accounted for.

Misuse of federal grant money is a federal crime.

It has always surprised me how the City Council would blindly vote for federal grants and sign accounting forms without all of the facts.

It is much easier to raise the taxes on the citizens of Culver City because they don’t seem to care how the city spends their tax money.
