Re “Brown Holds Thin Edge in Race for Mayor of Compton” and “Suspicious D.A. Knocks on Compton’s Door. Is Anybody Home?”

I recently came across your article on the elections last week in Compton.

I currently have lived in this city for 25 years now, and this most recent election, that apparently took place, was not even mentioned at all.

I was aware that it would happen.

As a resident, I was disgusted to find out that former mayor Omar Bradley, who served a three-year prison term, would even consider running.

I am even more disgusted that, as a resident of Compton, I never got a chance to vote on any of these mayoral candidates.

There never was any notice of when and where they would take place in my own region of the city. I could definitely tell you that we were totally excluded. I live on the eastern side, a few blocks north of Greenleaf, still considered Compton.

In recent times, I did come across billboards saying that there would be elections for mayor. But no dates or locations mentioned, period.

So I find out that in this city of 96,000, only 5,000 people voted. It’s a shame.

I am a registered voter and a U.S. citizen, and never even knew when this would take place. I thank you for taking your time in writing about our city although reading what I read, I do come to the conclusion that this “Corruption” in Compton is more part of how to run the city than anything.

Thank you for your time.
