Re “Is the Dem Cub Democratic? Then Everyone Should Be Allowed to Vote”
To Alan Corlin:
By your thinking, Mr. Corlin, I am just guessing, that the Culver City Democratic Club needs to establish a database with signatures so that absentee ballots can be mailed to all members? Then the Club would verify the ballots/signatures, as the County does after the election, and the results would be announced some weeks later? Is that your process?
All members who pay dues are eligible to vote. At this point in our process, with the limited funds and membership of the Democratic Club, [97 paid members as of February, 58 attended and voted], I don’t see absentee voting as fiscally responsible. You may disagree.
Maybe when the state initiates computer voting we could piggyback on their system?
Perhaps listening to the panel of candidates is the purpose of the meeting in order to make an informed decision. Candidate Gary Abrams asked how many people make a decision based on lawn signs. I understand that attendance is not always possible. I was able to hear the Obama-Romney debates electronically. Is that what you suggest? Televised panels from the Democratic Club? Then what? Mail in your ballot? Can you help out with that process?
We both agree that more Democrats need to participate and vote. The ongoing question is…how best to get them or their ballots to the polls. We are playing the same game. Our strategies diverge on how to “win.” Do we change coaches or players? Lower or raise the mound? Or allow metal and wood bats? Rewind the ball?
We are on the same team. Let’s figure it out.
