What to Make of Proposed Commission Changes

Friends and Neighbors,

Since neighbors who called the Culver City Police Dept. on Friday morning for parking enforcement on 10700 block of Farragut Drive were told there would be no response due to a large funeral at Grace Church, I found the notification of a special meeting about the Civil Service Commission very interesting (tonight at 7 in Council Chambers).

Item 5 is about amending ordinance 7.01.230.B.2 of the Culver City Municipal Code:

Item 6 is described as a resolution amending policy statement 3003 and rescinding resolution No. 95-R005

I have mixed feelings since reading the full page advertisement in the Culver City News about how the Police Dept. rank-and-file have no confidence in Chief Don Pedersen.

I think it reflects badly on everyone involved and the city as a whole.

Releasing the agenda on Friday for a Monday special meeting is also disturbing to me.

Last Wednesday evening, our neighborhood served as the “Green Room” for the entertainers at “The Spot Cafe & Lounge” — they paced the sidewalks practicing their routines and calling people to complain about their position in the show line-up.

Residential neighborhoods should not have to be the parking and storage lots of their business neighbors.

Regards.
