Re “A Throbbing Question for Mr. Greenberg”

I don't think it can be said that reading thefrontpageonline.com will not inspire the passions of its community.

As they say on the TV news, sometimes, in the interests of full disclosure, I have lived in Culver City since 1973 on Farragut Drive between the CCUSD Elenda Street Complex and Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.

I wonder how many students were from out-of-district back then?  Any headline posted with this piece probably was not written by me.

Over the years I have allowed political campaign signs to be displayed in my lawn for various people and causes.

I have allowed my name to be used as an endorser for various candidates and causes.

I am not a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.

It is unfortunate, in my opinion, that the petition by Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church to remove the “Permit Only” parking from Farragut Drive has caused such controversy.

Going forward, may I ask that people discussing this petition in the media please include some information like:

1) Have you read the “Petition for Variance” filed with Culver City on May 3, 1957, bearing the signature of Pastor Blough?  Am I incorrect in my interpretation that it is requesting to demolish a residential structure to put up a bigger building — without having the required parking spaces normally required of such a structure?

2) Have you read the report submitted by George Rosenthal, Zoning Analyst, regarding the petition?

3) Do you live on a major point of access for a school complex with 4,000-plus students?

4) How many children have been hit by vehicles while crossing the street where you live?

5) Do you live within a block of a day-care facility with 122 students and a totally inadequate parking lot?  One with a gate into the parking lot of the CCUSD Adult School Overland Campus?  I wonder what time that facility gets to humming?

6) What is your interpretation of the city staff statement about the number of citations issued on Farragut Drive in a six-month period being 800 percent more of any other street in Culver City?  This, after the parking restrictions have been in place for over 30 years?

I could ask more questions. However, this probably will all be brought up at the next City Council meeting regarding this petition, which to paraphrase our Mayor Sahli-Wells, will start Culver City on that slippery slope regarding the Residential Parking Program. See you there.
