Karlo Silbiger has been an outstanding public servant throughout his first term on the Culver City School Board. Particularly considering the cumulative effects of budget cuts that our School District has faced in recent years, he has done a stellar job.

Mr. Silbiger knows how to hone in on key issues, prioritize wisely and exercise leadership that has been instrumental in the success of the Board’s most significant accomplishments during his tenure.
Particularly impressive demonstrations of Mr. Silbniger’s effectiveness are in evidence here:

• Creation of the CCUSD Environmental Sustainability Committee and the adoption of the District’s solar initiative.
• Sound decision-making in the hiring of Superintendent of Schools Dave LaRose.
• Increased transparency via televised meetings, the availability of more info on the CCUSD website and special Board workshops open to the public.
• Greater commitment to working respectfully with teachers and other school employees. It is the dedicated adults in our schools who make possible the great education that students receive. Therefore, attracting and retaining high quality staff are essential.
• Robust and consistent support for the arts, physical education and a full menu of educational and vocational offerings to make sure our students have a well-rounded school experience and bright futures.
• Improvement in town-gown relationships, collaboration between the City/City Council and School District/Board Members increases efficiency
Mr. Silbiger has an excellent mind. He is the beneficiary of a superb education, including schooling in Culver City, Boston University, Harvard and now UCLA. He has devoted his professional life to teaching and the implementation of sound educational policies.

His conscientiousness and respectful, collaborative approach to understanding issues and developing solutions for our schools make him a standout on our School Board. Mr. Silbiger is committed to the well-being of the students of this District, He listens to all stakeholders before taking action, which assures that his positions are thoughtful and well-reasoned.

Mr. Silbiger works well with his colleagues on the Board, as well as with the parents, teachers, staff and administrators who contribute so much to our schools. He has been a strong advocate for fiscal responsibility, which is of great importance to our District and for taxpayers. It is an honor to be a member of his campaign committee, and I look forward to voting for him today.
