I am endorsing Scott Malsin for City Council in the April 13 election.

He has earned my respect as a leader because of a solid record of accomplishments for our community.

Scott is, by nature, an engaging “go-to” guy.

No matter what the issue, problem or question, Scott truly enjoys working with people. He welcomes calls from one and all.

Scott listens carefully, asks thoughtful questions, and then makes use of his experience, creativity, wisdom, as well as a remarkable 360-degree view of the issue being discussed.

I have seen him take on complex problems and negotiate solutions that worked for all parties with tangible results – most recently, working with me on behalf of my neighborhood to mitigate the problems caused by two empty, overgrown properties in the Gateway neighborhood that had become a magnet for vandals and taggers. Scott followed through. In the process, he helped foster stronger relations between the neighborhood and the city departments involved in correcting the problem.

Scott is effective because of his knowledge and experience. Like a true leader, he enjoys teaching, and empowering others.

As a Council member, Scott has shown us he is able to remain fair and pro-active in working for the benefit of our community, no matter how heated or polarized any debate may become.

Scott has a far-reaching vision that can be seen during a stroll Downtown. He is focused on maintaining and improving our livable neighborhoods and guiding the city’s revitalization to all parts of our city. He championed adopting new development standards and height limits; transit policies, environmental programs and policies.

He has built working relationships with state and county elected officials. He has established himself as a force to be reckoned with in representing Culver City’s short- and long-term interests outside our town’s boundaries.

I encourage everyone to meet with Scott, to get to know him before Election Day.

Scott will be out in the community, and he always welcomes calls.

Scott is genuine, with little artifice, and the one we can trust to help guide our community through the current economic climate.

Scott Malsin consistently works to deliver the results that we, as a community, benefit from.

Scott has shown he can build consensus on a strong Council and work as part of a team – he does not seek the limelight. He is committed to the vision of our community as a town that we all are proud to be a part of and call home.

I hope you will join your friends and neighbors in re-electing Scott Malsin to City Council on April 13.
