As readers may know, 21 leading scientists, engineers and technical experts from around the country — including California — have written a letter to Gov. Brown affirming the safety of hydraulic fracturing and highlighting the many benefits (including environmental) of oil and natural gas development.

The signers include U.C Berkeley climate scientist Richard Muller (who just released this paper explaining why environmentalists should embrace shale development) – http://www.cps.org.uk/files/reports/original/131202135150-WhyEverySeriousEnvironmentalistShouldFavourFracking.pdf) – and Stephen Holditch, head of the Dept. of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A & M. He was an advisor to the White House and Secretary of Energy as a member of the Energy Dept.’s Advisory Board on the safety of shale development.

Mr. Quast, California director of Energy in Depth, may be contacted at www.energyindepth.org
