Another special election on Dec. 3 for the vacant state Assembly seat caused by the terming out of Los Angeles City Councilmember Jan Perry. It trickled down to the state Senate, now the state Assembly. Oh, what term limits have created…

My choice is Sebastian Ridley-Thomas for our next member of the state Assembly. Yes, he is the son of our Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas. Yes, he is only 26 years old.

I go back to the 1984 Presidential election where President Reagan did not hold the youth of former Vice President Walter Mondale against him. Youth has its virtues.

The one word that Mr. Ridley-Thomas used in a conversation with me, that no other candidate who met with me used, was a word that his generation needs, that I believe in and that current elected officials are afraid of saying, “j-o-b-s.” Maybe they resist because it is a four- letter word.

Mr. Ridley-Thomas knows and speaks well about economic development, especially by incentivizing the private sector. I have been hearing too much about economic development that we should not do from current and past elected officials. If we are going to get out of our economic doldrums, private sector jobs will do it…

Sebastian Ridley-Thomas is the one in the 54th Assembly on Dec. 3 to deliver economic prosperity to the state and especially the 54th Assembly District.

That’s what I think…
