Please join me at the 21st annual Empowerment Congress Summit at 9 a.m. on Saturday at USC’s Bovard Auditorium.
This year's plenary session will feature a City of Los Angeles mayoral candidates forum with Los Angeles City Councilman Eric Garcetti, Los Angeles City Councilwoman Jan Perry, Los Angeles City Controller Wendy Gruel, former Assistant United States Attorney Kevin James, and technology company executive Emanuel Pleitez.
Brad Pomerance, host of Time Warner's “Local Edition,” will serve as moderator. The forum will be live streamed, and those who are unable to attend are invited to watch it on http://ridley-thomas.lacounty.gov/live-stream
After the plenary session, the Summit will also include workshops on topics such as Civic Engagement, Coalition Building, Neighborhood Councils, Government 101, Building Healthy Communities, Gun Violence Prevention, and Accountable Law Enforcement in Los Angeles County. The event is free, but advanced registration is required.
