Re “Paspalis Gave the ‘Wrong’ Answers to My Questions

I just read Jeffers Dodge’s letter.

I had to wonder:

Is this guy serious?

Then I looked him up.

I , realized he actually was.

Mr. Dodge is a musician who fancied himself a politician. In 2006, Jeffers Dodge ran against Karen Bass for the 47th District Assembly seat. The public seemed to understand all about Mr. Dodge.

He received a total of just 15,096 votes out of 203,940 registered voters. Of all those eligible to vote, 93 percent of the registered voters chose not to vote for Mr. Dodge.

Perhaps the public rallied against Mr. Dodge due to the fact that Mr. Dodge not only holds prehistoric ideals, but also because Mr. Dodge can’t even get the facts straight. One would think that if he were going to submit a letter to the editor, Mr. Dodge would research something before shooting off a letter.

Think again.

Dodge writes, “What makes you think that the socialist-led California state legislators will not cut the School Board’s subsidies, again, after the bond is voted in?

Mr. Dodge, Measure EE is a for a parcel tax, not a bond. Moreover, if you bothered to read the language of the measure before spouting your garbage, you might have read that there is a provision that if the state tries to take these funds, the funds are immediately returned to the homeowners.

With respect to Ms. Paspalis, she is an excellent choice to lead our District for the next four years. Millions of children are raised in single family homes. You’ve heard of Lady Bird Johnson, Sir Isaac Newton, Robert E. Lee, or Alexander Haig?

What do these uber-succesful people have in common? Yes, all were raised by single parents.

I would be honored to have a doting, caring and compassionate parent like Kathy Paspalis, who is also an astute businessperson and a woman who makes positive things happen, as my elected School Board member.

I wouldn’t want to take advice or direction from a man who wants to send his own 15-year-old son to war. I’m in the majority, as 93 percent of the population said that same thing to Mr. Dodge just three short years ago.
