With the help of the Culver City Great Parks Assn., Culver City received a grant from KaBoom,  which will enable us to build a nice portion of the playground in Veterans Park that we're striving to create.

This is really exciting, not only because it's happening, but also because it is happening fast.

The Build Day is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 3.  Please mark it on your calendars, and schedule a day off from work if necessary.  The build day will start in the morning and go throughout the day.

Part of the reason we received this grant is because of the promises that Culver City Great Parks made to bring a high participation level from the community.

Any help in spreading the word and getting commitments is our best way of contributing at this point.

The first show of support by the community will be next Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m.

This will be the best opportunity for the community to participate in an open forum on what they want to see in the playground.

After this, the remaining input sessions will be done by committee.

Free child care will be available if needed.  Spread the word.  If you have any questions let me know.  Follow the link below to RSVP.

KaBoom, a national non-profit that empowers communities to build playgrounds, has selected the city of Culver City as a community-build partner for a playground renovation project at Veterans’ Park.

The City Council, at its Sept. 14 meeting, accepted the grant and approved the partnership with KaBoom. Through the KaBoom partnership, the city and the Culver City Great Parks Association, with the help of community volunteers of all ages, will design and build a new playground for children ages 5  to12.
