Dear Mr. Z:
I am disturbed by your continual insistence that anyone who does not agree with you is wrong.
You may be surprised, and perhaps a bit embarrassed, to know that early in the campaign I had considered voting for you.
I am proud to live in Culver City because it will always be a small town. We appreciate differences. We do not hold opinions against people as a rule, unless they attempt to ride roughshod over others.
I was very distressed several years ago when two City Council members regularly spoke from their positions on the dais in a disparging manner to residents who spoke at the meetings.
Watching these meetings from home, and seeing the enormous difference civility has made with our current Council is why your strident assertions and personal remarks do not sit well with me, and perhaps many others.
I shudder to imagine what our School Board meetings would be like if you are so willing to handle differences of opinions in this way.
Likewise, I am uneasy about how this would affect open, inclusive School Board functions.
You may notice that the only other candidate I commented on was Gary Abrams, who I wished would take the advice of another candidate and come out to meet us.
None of what I have ever written could be construed to be mean-spirited or following an agenda.
You should be ashamed of trying to twist what you have written earlier.
I would like you to look me in the eye and apologize for your personal remarks about me.
I also think you owe the candidate that you chose to go after an apology.
Do this before the election if you still believe you may have a chance.
If by some chance you actually do win a seat, you may find it uncomfortable having to work with that candidate if she also wins.
I had no idea that talk of school bullies would morph into School Board bullying.
