Re “Welcome, Judith, to World of Traditional, Not Sexually Correct, Journalism”
Mr. Noonan,
I enjoyed your comments on Judith Martin-Straw's letter to you yesterday.
I do refer to you as Mr. Noonan, not because of your sex, but because of your advanced age!
Going back in history, there were many times when a last name was not used – in the text of stories and in headlines. Among them, TR, FDR, JFK, LBJ
Let's not forget Gen. Eisenhower (former President of the United States, who was “Ike” to Americans.)
We need to remember Ann Margaret, Charo, Cher, Madonna and then there is Elvis, Fabian, Prince. The list goes on.
Just being respectful.
Thank you,
SSSSteve
P.S.: You can use my first name anytime — as long as you spell it with four “S’s.”
