Members of the City Council:

In light of the recent fatal school bus accident wherein “…a teenage motorist accused of fatally injuring a pedestrian and broadsiding a school bus in Boyle Heights… made his first court appearance today on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident…”

I would again ask the City Council to do everything in its power to provide the Culver City Police Dept. with the resources to effectively control traffic around the Farragut Drive/Elenda CCUSD complex and its surrounding residential neighborhoods.

I would ask you to view the two pieces of video taken this week that underline the dangerous driving habits exhibited by a significant number of drivers in the area. All that I have to do is stand on the corner of Farragut Drive and Elenda for 10 to 15 minutes to get examples like this:

I am afraid that the incident in Boyle Heights is going to be repeated here one day if the city does not show a zero-tolerance for the running of stop signs, speeding in the residential neighborhoods and general flaunting of the traffic regulations.

Respectfully yours,
John Heyl
