I am very pleased that the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission listened on Tuesday night to people who live around and enjoy our neighborhood parks, and decided to recommend to City Council to keep the "no dogs in city parks" ordinance as it is.

We are short on park land here in Culver City. The commissioners know the importance of every inch of green space.

I agree that it is very important that the "dogs in parks" issue be taken up on a park-by-park basis. That is, that designated pooch paths be implemented if neighbors can demonstrate a compelling need, such as in Culver West / Alexander Park and Culver City Park.

I commend the commission and I thank them for their well-deliberated and reasoned approach.

I am confident that the Parks and Rec Commission, and its staff, handily investigated the issue and that the City Council members will accept their recommendation.
