Re “Colleagues ‘Blindsided’ Me, Says Meghan on Gun Control Stance”
Thank you for publishing the report from City Councilperson Meghan Sahli-Wells on the disappointing outcome of the Gun Control item on Monday evening’s City Council agenda.
As one of the people who spoke up at a prior Council meeting asking for action from our City Council, I am surprised that the four parts put before the Council were not passed, especially the gun control plan put forth by our President.
I do not understand the hesitation. Would they be hesitant if they were on the Newtown Council?
Or would they, instead, be petitioning the Congress and the President with the urgency this grave situation requires?
Of course I want the Council to revisit these items.
And of course I will be there again, to hear for myself their rational for weakening the recommendations from city staff.
