Friends and Neighbors,

My brother ran across this: http://www.ccusd.org/apps/news/show_news.jsp?REC_ID=205565&id=0 regarding the new turning restrictions now in effect around the campus of Culver City Middle School, Culver City High School and Farragut School.

If you don’t want to follow the link, here is what the release from the School District says:

“Parents and others visiting the CCUSD Office of Child Development, Culver City Middle School, Culver City High School and Farragut Elementary School should be aware that drivers will no longer be allowed to make a left turn into the CCMS/Farragut parking lots from Farragut Avenue.

“For drivers to get into the parking lot, they must travel down Elenda Street and enter through the driveway closest to the Middle School. Drivers can travel straight through between CCMS and the Natatorium to drop off students. They can only exit, however, through the driveway closest to Farragut. When drivers exit, they can only turn right onto Farragut.”

Hopefully “police presence” will be more than the Parking Enforcement Officers yelling down the street at vehicles that they can't do this or that as they drive away. I must say that it is a good start. I hope that we residents of Farragut DRIVE will see safer traffic conditions from the changes on Farragut AVENUE.

I am not sure what the ramifications of not being able to make a left turn out of the Farragut Elementary School parking lot means to Farragut Drive. This should cut down on the traffic back-ups from Overland Avenue to Elenda down Farragut Drive, but only time will tell. We can only hope that there will be resources to continue the police presence beyond this afternoon.
