Los Angeles County is on the verge of a transit breakthrough.

The region is being transformed from a place where one “must have a car to survive” to one where we have clean, efficient and affordable transportation choices, where walkable, bikeable, transit-oriented neighborhoods with lofts, live/work spaces and other housing choices complement the single-family neighborhoods of which we are so proud.

Long renowned as the region with the nation’s worst air pollution and worst traffic, we will be praised for having conquered these scourges, and once again be defined as a place with expansive opportunities, extraordinary diversity and exceptional weather.

We at Move LA feel privileged to have played a leadership role in this transformation. We are determined to see its opportunities fully realized.

Building this new transit system and “active living” environment will result in thousands of jobs.

Operating and maintaining it will yield thousands more.

The competitive advantage our new urban efficiency confers will enhance prosperity for all.

Commerce will flourish as traffic abates. Deteriorating neighborhoods will be remediated by reinvestment. More families will be able to find housing they can afford, aided in part by the savings that comes from having to own and operate fewer cars.

Our economy will be transformed by this newly created access and efficiency, thanks in large part to the opportunities that are unfolding because of voters’ overwhelming support for Measure R.

We believe we can accomplish this transformation in less than two decades — the blink of an eye, really. Kids today will be just finishing college, while many high school students will be starting families, or still early in their careers.

We invite you to join with us in this effort, to join our family of sponsors and supporters, the community of people, leaders, firms, labor unions and public-spirited foundations that make our work possible by providing us with the resources we need. Contributions are deductible as charitable contributions.
