This morning I had the honor of having breakfast with Scott Malsin and Paul Jacobs at that Culver City institution, the Roll and Rye.
Paul, a friend of many years, wanted me to meet with Scott personally and determine for myself Scott’s ongoing qualifications to be a City Councilman.
This city is and will be going through a period of limited tax resources. The state of California has eliminated all of the state's Redevelopment Agencies, including Culver City's. The Agency is an institution that has played an important role in developing Downtown and in making this city a new jewel on the West Coast.
Culver City has arrived when real property not in Culver City is advertised as “Culver City-adjacent.” Scott Malsin has play a significant role in the development of Culver City as the head of our Redevelopment Agency while serving on the City Council.
I am convinced that we need the ongoing leadership of Scott Malsin, a hardworking citizen who is not independently wealthy, but who is a person dedicated to making Culver City a leading city in California.
He has played that role in the past, and I am sure that he can play that role in the future. I have not read or seen anything that would change my opinion in that regard.
