Things are starting to get rolling on the School Board campaign, and I need your help with four things:

1) If you've already donated to my campaign, thank you. If not, please contribute whatever you can. We need to pay for mailers, lawn signs and more. You can donate online at http://levinforschoolboard.com/index.php/contribute  or you can mail a check to:

Steve Levin for School Board
4232 Jasmine Ave
Culver City, CA 90232

The state requires us to record the name, address, occupation, and employer of everyone who contributes. Please include that information if you mail a check.

2)  Walk with me. We'll be walking almost every weekend, knocking on doors and dropping off literature. It's especially valuable to walk with me in your own neighborhood, but more people helping will make it easier in every neighborhood. I intend to walk up and down every street in Culver City before Nov. 5, and have fun doing it.  Eugenie Lago is organizing the walking. You can check with her ( eugenie_lago@yahoo.com ) about where I'll be when.

3) Check out the website and supporters list at http://levinforschoolboard.com.  Many of you already are listed as supporters. Check to be sure that we spelled your name right, and tell me if we're missing a mark next to your name for “teacher,” “elected official,” or other proper designation. If you're not listed as a supporter, you can click on the link to add your name.

4)  Spread the word. Talk to your friends and neighbors In person, by email, on Facebook and Twitter. Everything helps. Our biggest problem is that so few people vote.  In the last School Board election, only 4,304 people voted out of 25,000 registered voters who could have participated. If we can each get a handful of additional people to pay attention and vote, it will make an enormous difference.

Thank you for your help, and I promise to work hard to improve our schools.

Mr. Levin, an astrophysicist, is a first-time candidate in the Nov. 5 School Board election.
