Re “If She Is Elected, Goldberg Promises Transparency to the Community”
I had to chuckle when I read the article about “transparency” given the mailers sent out over the weekend to Culver City residents about the slate of School Board candidates – Nancy Goldberg and Laura Chardiet.
didn’t know they were running together.
One mailer is from the “Citizens for Good Government.” No identification on the mailer. The classic part is that three dead Republican Presidents are asking for the voters to “consider our recommendations.” And the two candidates are Democrats.
The other is from the “Democratic Voters Choice.” At least this mailer had living people (President Obama and VP Biden) featured on it. Impressive endorsement!
It turns out the slate mailers were donated by the California Federation of Teachers. But there is no mention of the CFT.
And the campaigns had no idea early yesterday morning where they came from. But after my phone calls, and I’m sure many others, Sandy and Stephen Schwartz (Nancy Goldberg’s co-campaign chairs) quickly remembered it was the CFT.
I wonder why the CFT has an interest in Culver City politics? Why not list the organization’s name on the mailers?
I love the final weekend before Culver City elections. And everyone should remember to vote on Tuesday for School Board candidates.
