I am beginning to feel that George Laase is just a jealous man. Scott Malsin, the former City Councilman, protected his family, something everyone should do.
Scott only took the benefits that every other Council member in the past was offered, and almost all took.
So why not chastise Steve Gourley, Ed Wolkowitz, Gary Silbiger, and anyone else who did not vote to end it during their terms?
Why did the past powers see it as okay for the boys and girls club to continue to be offered the perk?
Why is it that because Mr. Malsin’s only way of insuring his benefits was to resign, and that caused people like Mr. Laase to take out a mean-spirited, personal set of attacks on one individual.
How about all School Board members vote to get rid of any existing perks while on the Board and ensure those dollars go back to the classrooms?
I hope after the election that Mr. Laase can sit back and reflect on his behavior, something I would expect in L.A. but never in Culver City.
As to Mr. Malsin’s personal finances, what he earned or inherited is not relevant to the accepting of benefits he was promised when elected.
No changing of the rules in mid- game.
No being jealous of success.
It is a really bad quality being shown by such a small-minded few.
