Is He an Enemy of Free Speech?

What do the governments of China, Burma, Iran, North Korea and many others have in common with the City Council?

They are all enemies of free speech.

Of course, Scott Malsin and the others did have the authority to fire Dee Seehusen for having an opinion, one that is now widely regarded as innocuous.

We, their employers, should remember that we have the authority to fire them too, on Election Day. In fact, I believe we have a duty to throw out these men, for acting as if the U.S. Constitution didn't matter.

We owe it to every American who fought and died for the right to free speech, which is how our extraordinary democracy was built.

We owe it to all those who are currently jailed, tortured or executed for speaking against their governing authorities. What is Scott Malsin so afraid of that he can't even accept a meaningful, opposing view from one, single voice, that of an 80-year-old woman?

With small minds typically come big egos. So admitting a mistake and reinstating Seehusen was apparently out of the question.

Send a message tomorrow. It's not like Malsin’s performance will be missed.
