Regarding the on-again, off-again Culver City Car Show:
While I hate to beat an almost dead horse, I would like to bring out the following in defense of the Exchange Club, which has sponsored the Car Show for the past five years:
1. They donate 700 hours of volunteerism to this event. They are doctors, lawyers, proferssionals, all of whom charge more than $50 per hour for their time
2. They donate between $30,000 and $40,000 per year to Culver City-based charities, schools and institutions.
3. They pulled together this event, one that nobody in City Hall is capable of doing. They garner great press regionally, something that the Ccty could not afford to buy.
At a time when the Los Angeles Mayor is promoting volunteerism, it is sad to think that the city of Culver City is attempting to turn itself into Los Angeles, a city longing to be like a Culver City.
