Re “CPK 4 CC – Please, No More Pizza Kitchens Here”
Dear Scott McVarish,
I enjoyed your letter a couple of days ago. While clever, one bit of wit deserves another:

As you can see, I was “CPK,” thanks to my parents, three whole years before California Pizza Kitchen even graced our state.
Before you and I engage in too many witty cracks back and forth, it would be great to meet in person for coffee. Certainly we may all have differences of opinions, but I never would want to attack or be negative toward someone, especially without ever having met him or her. I hope we can get together to get to know each other as people. That way, we don’t denigrate folks that we don’t know.
Maybe I can give you a call and set up a short coffee? What’s your best number?
By the way, while I appreciate you thinking that my mortgage company is a “big corporation,” I am a local business owner who has owned his company for five years and who is surviving one of history’s most challenging real estate markets. It has been a struggle, but I’m proud of my company and the small team of agents who are under my license.
As a local attorney, I am sure you can understand what it’s like to be a small, local business owner.
