Mehaul O’Leary is not a man who can be stampeded.  He has the strength to stand his ground. He is an independent thinker with great respect for all that has been accomplished in Culver City’s past.  He knows the importance of studying issues and avoiding rash decisions such as changing the City Charter without serious public debate.
The other night at the Lindberg Park Candidates Forum, all three candidates were asked whether they had read all sixty-two pages of the proposed City Charter.
Only Mehaul gave us a straight answer.  Not only has he read the proposal from cover to cover, but he did his own research by talking with present and former Council members to get ample pro and con viewpoints.
Mehaul told us that he had to oppose Measure V in its present all-or-nothing form.
Mehaul explained his reasoning.  “Looking around me at this well-kept city of ours, I have to believe that our existing system of government had a great deal to do with accomplishing the quality of life that we all cherish in Culver City.  I have to conclude that our system of government is not broken. It does not need to be fixed.
“We do have one problem today, a divided City Council.  There have been far too many three-to-two votes.  I believe that this election is about fixing the problem at City Council by electing candidates with new ideas, fresh energy and the willingness to work together as a team.”
Mehaul O’Leary respects the opinions of others. He will work cooperatively with his fellow Council members.   He is clearly a team player.  That is the type of individual we deserve on our City Council.

Please join me in voting for Mehaul O’Leary for the City Council on April 11.
