Re “Prof. Siever Presents a Gift and Zigzag Remembrance in the Same Evening

In a recent article, Prof. Pat Siever's recent remarks about fracking, delivered during a CCUSD School Board meeting, were covered.

I do not take exception to your article, which I assume covered her remarks correctly. (I wasn't there.)

But it's important for the record to state that the many issues related to fracking are complex.

There is not a single issue. This said, even though state Assemblywoman Betsy Butler's bill was opposed to fracking, it didn't happen to be a good or strong bill.

Many of us in the anti-fracking world were opposed to it because we felt it would do more harm than good.

It would be a shame if Dr. Siever or anyone else who publicly stated opposition to Ms. Butler's bill was perceived to be pro-fracking.

For the record, I regard myself as an anti-fracking activist struggling to learn all the complexities of this subject.

I hope that my fellow Culver City residents will do all they can – despite busy lives – to learn as much as possible about fracking and its terribly dangerous consequences.
