Five Questions Malsin Backers Should Ask Themselves

Before you vote for Scott Malsin for City Council on April 10, think about these questions:

1. Didn’t he pay for health insurance before he became a City Councilman?

2. How can he really be concerned about the city when he will probably cost Culver City hundreds of thousands of dollars for free lifetime medical benefits?

3. He is not losing lifetime medical benefits. He is just being asked to pay part of the cost. Why can’t/won’t he do it?

4. How much harm did he do to the city’s negotiations with the unions last year when he published three op-ed pieces in the local newspaper at the same time the city was asking the unions to accept cuts to their benefits?

5. Is he really eligible for free lifetime medical benefits? CALpers (the state agency that administers retirement benefits) says that if an employee retires and then is rehired by the same employer (or any other CALpers municipality), he is not truly retired and is not eligible for benefits. If that is determined to apply to Mr. Malsin, will he quit again?
