[Editor’s Note: The writer’s remarks are directed to David Mielke, President of the Teachers Union.]
Come on, Mr. Mielke, try to be honest for a change.
I regularly read thefrontpageonline.com, and as a former teacher, I enjoy reading your weekly messages to the teachers that you submit to this paper. However, I always assumed that you were being honest when you submitted those messages. Now, having read your most recent message, I know that honest is something that you are not.
Let’s look first at your May 24, 2010, message (http://www.thefrontpageonline.com/new/articles1-7606/CallIssuedforUnionMemberstoProtestatTomorrowallsMeeting). In that message, you write,
“CCUSD is bucking that trend, expanding administration while “streamlining” its course offerings to students. … Does it make any sense to hire two administrators to replace one?”
School Board Vice President Scott Zeidman explained that the District didn’t hire two administrators, but rather merely changed the titles of those two administrators to better reflect their job duties. There were no new hires and no changes in the overall salaries.
Ten days after your message claiming that the District hired two administrators to replace one, you responded on June 4, http://www.thefrontpageonline.com/new/articles1-7661/MielkeAnswersZeidmanWhatIsWrongwithUsingEmail,
“As to the new administrative position being created at the District office, Mr. Zeidman is correct. While it is a position we've never had before, the number of supervisory employees in that department is remaining the same.”
Mr. Mielke, which is it?
Did the District hire two administrators to replace one, as you claimed on May 24, or is the number of supervisory employees the same, as you admit on June 4?
Put a different way, Mr. Mielke, were you lying to the public on May 24, or were you lying to the public on June 4?
We'd love to hear your answer on this one.
