Although we still are working on the numbers, I would estimate the fireworks show crowd last Friday was north of 12,000.

That is a rough estimate. In the final tally, it could be remarkably more. In another day, I may have a better figure.

All I can say is, the crowds kept coming.

We maxed-out on all available parking, which was about 3,000 spaces.

Next year, we will consider using shuttles to help facilitate access. The other news of note is that the event went off without incident — other than a couple of blisters and a fellow who forgot his medication in his car.

Working cooperatively, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Dept. and the Culver City Police Dept., along with support from their respective fire departments, were spectacular.

Their success was the result of careful planning and terrific professionalism. We cannot say enough about their great work.

This show also would not have been possible without the President of West Los Angeles College,  Nabil Abu-Gazeleh,  his entire staff or without the support of Culver City and the office of County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas.

Our success is their success.
