Re “What UPCC Stands for

To answer a question that was posed to me, I believe the issue of adjuncts at El Marino Language School still is being addressed.

I think that the June 12 School Board meeting is where it probably will be addressed since tonight's Board agenda (at 7 o’clock in Council Chambers) is very full.

With regard to the new parents union, United Parents of Culver City, I am unclear on what their specific goals are.

Will they equally represent all students?

Are they working to mitigate the inequities we see throughout our School District?

Will they work to make sure that all students in every school have equal access to the same services and the same opportunities to be successful?

Will they work together with teachers, support staff, District and site administrators to help our lower achieving students become proficient?

The issues listed on their website don't mention any of these things. Yet these are critical issues that face our District.

I worry that the issues that have inspired this group are too site-specific, which leaves the majority of our parents and their children without the representation they deserve.
