Re “Union-Backed Candidate Taking Name-Calling Cues from a Puppet Master?

I address my remarks to Hillary Corning’s letter in Friday’s edition:

Dear Ms. Corning,

Thank you for weighing in. I get it:

You are not a fan of unions.

You don’t think I have the right to ask any tough questions of the candidates.

I have absolutely no idea to what you’re referring when you talk about alleged name-calling at the end of the Culver Crest Candidates Forum, because there was none. There never was an “admission” in my piece that Nancy Goldberg did not understand the complexities of the budget.

But feel free to continue to misinterpret or miss the point of anything I write.

One Candidate Defends Another

From Robert Zirgulis

In response to Hillary Corning's letter alluding to Nancy Goldberg supposedly answering to her union “puppet master,” I must come to Ms. Goldberg's defense.

I never heard her call any of the candidates disparaging names.

Now I must admit that I was legitimately attacking Scott Zeidman, and I did make a reference that I'm like the kid who yelled “the emperor is wearing no clothes” in calling into question that just because Mr. Zeidman talks authoritatively and is a lawyer, that does not make him right.

However, I wouldn't call him a “moron” the way his fellow lawyer and Board member Steve Gourley called me when I criticized him.
