Excitement is building for CicLAvia on Sunday, April 21, as we anticipate being able to welcome more than 10,000 participants to the Culver City Hub.
Our event committee is hard at work at planning for the large number of visitors and everything that is needed – traffic control, signage, bike repair facilities, bike valet, first aid station, info booths and, lest we forget, porta-potties.
We plan on having live entertainment.
All of our downtown restaurants and shops will be open for business.
Business will be booming.
The City of Culver City is providing in-kind services to assist with traffic and sanitation. The actual costs of the Hub, however, have to be raised by Culver City individuals and organizations. Sony has graciously provided a $10,000 challenge grant.
The Downtown Business Assn. is matching with $5,000 from their members, and I have volunteered to help raise the remaining $5,000 from Culver City residents.
I am getting quite close. I need to raise $1,400 in the remaining 13 days, a little more than $100 a day. If just four different people on this list provide $25 each day, we are there. Will you be one of those people?
All contributions are tax deductible, and greatly appreciated.
Two ways to donate. You can go on-line to www.CicLAvia.org and make a donation. Unfortunately, you cannot designate the funds for the Culver City Hub online.
Please let me know you have donated so we can get credit for it.
Secondly, you can make out a check to CicLAvia and mark “Culver City Hub” in the memo field. Mail it to me, Jim Clarke, at P. O. Box 4521, Culver City, CA 90231-4521.
Thanks for your consideration.
If you would like to volunteer to help at the hub, please let me know. Look forward to seeing you on the April 21.
