Re “At Kickoff, Meghan Is Not Mourning Passing of the Agencies

Thank you for printing your article about Meghan Sahli-Wells’s official campaign opening.

I was seriously considering voting for Ms. Sahli-Wells. But after reading the article, I am 100 percent convinced that I will vote for any but Meghan Sahli-Wells.

While a new voice is oftentimes needed on a City Council, a new, naïve voice is certainly more harmful than good.

Is Ms. Wells seriously thinking that the state will give money to education as a result of the death penalty sentenced upon the Redevelopment Agencies?

We need look only to the state lottery to understand that the state won’t be giving any saved funds to our schools. Schools don’t benefit from the lottery. Schools will not benefit from the abolishment of the Redevelopment Agency.

Presently, our schools receive more than $1,000,000 annually from the Redevelopment Agency. When this agency is gone, so will be the funds given to our schools. If Ms. Sahli-Wells is truly interested in our schools, she’d be going to Sacramento arguing for the Redevelopment Agencies.

However, we all know what Ms. Sahli-Wells stands for, and it’s certainly not our schools or development of Culver City. Ms. Sahli-Wells stands firmly against development, any development. She has proved this time and time again, most recently with the 4043 Irving Pl. development.

We need positive, forward thinking, leaders on our City Council. Ms. Sahli-Wells is neither.
