Re “Zirgulis Launches Accusation Against a Rival”
Am I being set up? After this newspaper published my letter exposing Scott Zeidman's ploy of giving school credit and a free meal to students who would show up at the League of Women Voters forum, I got a letter from a Zeidman supporter telling me to “Be careful”!
The Zeidman supporter said that his child told him that I told her class to tell their parents to vote for me while I was teaching in the classroom.
I want to publicly state that I have done no such thing during this campaign and am willing to take a lie detector test to that effect.
I will admit that outside of the school I do give handouts to parents and students, and I do ask the students to tell their parents to vote for me. Perhaps the child was confused where she heard me.
Here is something that bothers me.
Am I being set up?
Is it possible that Mr. Zeidman's supporters will stoop to having their children coached and accuse me of campaigning on school grounds?
I have had people come up to me and ask me if I was running for School Board. I always say, “Yes, but I can't talk politics while on school grounds.”
I make it a point never to discuss politics in the classroom. I am not stupid. I know that I am being monitored.
I will, however, question the motivation of a teacher who allows someone to write on the white board, “Free Denny’s” next to Mr. Zeidman's name in a clas room.
Mr. Zirgulis, a candidate for the School Board in the Nov. 8 election, may be contacted at Zirgulisr@yahoo.com.
