As a Reformer, I Hope My Outsider Status Will Appeal to Voters

Dear Readers:

Let me show you what I can do so you will vote for Mr. Z on Tuesday for the City Council.

There is a saying, “Power tends to corrupt, absolute power corrupts absolutely.” — Lord Acton, 1887.

It is a fact that I am the “underdog” and the “outsider” running for the City Council. Culver City is in the position of being run by five Council member insiders. If I lose this election, then the insiders will have absolute power in controlling everything that happens in Culver City.

Culver City needs at least one “outsider” to act as watchdog to keep the City government honest!

Everyone knows that I have a reformer’s passion.

Witness my active campaign against the infernal red light camera ticket ripoffs as a symbol of corruption. From an unfair $446 ticket, which really costs more than $550 with traffic school and insurance increases, Culver City makes less than $50. The red light camera company gets over $1 million. Why do they make most of the money?

I will be the outsider asking the hard questions. For example, why haven’t any of the insiders asked why 50 percent of the money from a parking ticket that is currently is $58 going to a company called Turbo Data to process parking tickets. I think parking tickets could be processed in house for $3 instead of giving $29 to an outside source. This would save the city over $1 million.

I will be the outsider asking what happened to $700,000 of accounts receivables that “the city was unable to provide the auditors with information by specific payee,” according to the auditors, Mayer Hoffman McCann.

I will be the outsider asking the Police Dept. to notify neighbors that a registered sex offender has moved next door. I am the only candidate who visited all registered sex offender locations in Culver City and warned their neighbors.

I found that 80 percent of the neighbors, some with children, were unaware that a registered sex offender was living next door. I reported one sex offender whohad been babysitting his neighbor to Police Chief Don Pedersen.

I will be the outsider who demands that the City Attorney stop wasting millions of dollars on frivolous lawsuits and outside consultants.

Please vote for me, Mr. Z.
