We need to get Congressman Howard Berman (D-Valley) re-elected. A lot rests on this.
President Obama just wrote a statement on Wednesday praising Mr. Berman for his “extraordinary leadership.”
This pre-election tribute to Howard is a very strong message that President Obama wants and expects Howard to be back with him in Washington next year.
This statement by the President follows U.S. Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) endorsement of Howard.
I am sure that no other Congressional candidate in the country on the eve of this election has earned such bipartisan acclaim. But that is the kind of leader Howard is and always has been.
President Obama’s letter to Howard, sent last Wednesday, reads in part:
“ . . . I appreciate your extraordinary leadership, hard work, and advice on this issue and many other national security issues. We have a stronger, more secure nation thanks to your efforts.
“I look forward to continuing to work with you on this issue and others in the coming legislative session.”
“– President Barack Obama.”
The Los Angeles Times endorses Howard, calling him “one of the most respected members of the House . . . An admired leader in foreign affairs, a clear thinker…”
The Daily News endorses Howard and says he has “accomplished a lot, earning respect not only from fellow Democrats, but from Republicans.”
Words of admiration from President Obama, Sen. McCain, the L.A. Times and the Daily News. I hope you understand now why I am so enthusiastic about Howard and so much want you to vote for him.
Please vote for Congressman Berman – a leader who commands bipartisan respect. He has and he will continue to represent the Valley with skill and dignity.
