Years later I became the 10th grade English teacher at the Police Academy at Dorsey High School where I served for 8 years before I retired.
I look forward to learning of many more successful careers of former students of the Los Angeles Unified School District.
I was proud to attend the City Council meeting last month when Police Officer Aubrey Kellum was honored for his heroism. I was pleased to meet his family especially his supportive mother and wife.
I happily shared many hugs with all of them and even had a chance to say hi to another young man from that 10th grade English class of long ago. In addition, Officer Kellum’s son is now in 10th grade. His youth helped put into perspective how far we have all come from those earlier days at Fairfax High School.
