The School Board elections are two weeks from tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 8, and everyone has had a chance to hear from all of the candidates.
Along with many others, I am supporting Scott Zeidman for re-election. Scott has proven his dedication and determination to make things better for our schools and kids over the past four years. Despite challenging economic times facing our schools, we have been able to depend on Scott’s ability to understand and work effectively within a School Board system that has benefitted from his business acumen and from his attention to detail with the keen eye of an advocate.
With a track record that includes working to pass Measure EE to raise over $6M for our schools; working to place caps on enrollment to prevent overcrowding; collaborating with school administrators and the Board to effectively rework an unwieldy budget process, Scott has earned our trust.
By making transparency and open communication the norm at School Board meetings, Scott has earned our respect as a leader. One thing you may not know about Scott is that he worked for 8 years as a Recreation Leader in the Culver City Parks and Recreation Dept. after high school and while in college. This past Saturday, Scott, representing the School Board, attended the PRCS Commission during its annual tour of Culver City parks.
His questions and comments during that tour were insightful on a range of topics about youth, education (in and out of the classroom) and what the future might hold for the next generations.
What I found remarkable was that Scott has been involved consistently for around 30 years, and intuitively, he gets it when it comes to the unique needs of our community’s schools and families. For these and many more reasons I would like to urge everyone to vote for Scott Zeidman on Nov. 8.
