Re “Silbiger Wants to Make Certain About Solar Backup Plan”
Four hundred thousand dollars per year for 30 years is not guaranteed, but according to Clyde Murley, many of these systems make about $12 million over the 30-year life of the system. Do the math. If it ends up being $364,000 per year over 25 years (that's the guaranteed amount), I'll still be happy!
Half of the money for the athletic field is (hopefully) coming from school construction bonds from the state. None of that money has been released or allocated, but that project is depending on getting that money. We don't know when (or if) that will be distributed.
Right now (as you heard on Tuesday), about 20 percent of the solar panels are supposed to be placed on the new parking lot, which is part of the athletic field project. If that money doesn't come in (or if it comes in late) because of the way the state of California handles their finances, I was trying to say that we need a Plan B so that the solar project is not derailed.
