For almost any other country, an investigatory commission would not be nearly as momentous, upsetting, and loaded, as it is for Israel.
Did you ever hear anyone say he is mad at Algeria or Canada or Uganda. But Israel? Just ask Hateful Helen.
The Weekly Standard magazine reported this morning that the Obama administration has told friends abroad that next week it will support a United Nations move to authorize an “independent” commission to study last week’s Gaza flotilla confrontation (http://weeklystandard.com/blogs/)
If the White House is backing a matter this hot at the U.N., that is tantamount to making it happen.
Woe is Israel.
If you can imagine counting on your ex-wife’s parents to recommend you for a lofty appointment, you have an idea of how an “independent” group of gentlemen with absolutely neutral feelings about Jews and Israel will conduct itself.
You know about the Arab-loaded U.N. with its disgusting history of having issued more condemnations of Israel than all other governments cumulatively.
This will be an attempt to make a kangaroo court look like a noble undertaking.
The Israeli Foreign Minister told Prime Minister Netanyahu’s cabinet this morning that there were no humanitarian supplies aboard the lead ship in the flotilla. Darn. The Sunday School picknickers must have forgotten to pack them,
Instead, the ship was armed with Turkish terrorists and an array of Jew-haters seeking to bust Israel’s three-year-old blockade of Gaza, which has prevented weapons from being smuggled to the Hamas government that runs unoccupied Gaza.
The Weekly Standard further reported that the pivotal push toward U.S. endorsement of an “independent” probe came from our U.N. Ambassador, Susan Rice, a standard-issue left winger, who never has been seen as fair or objective toward Israel. She and Imam Obama share the identical feelings about Jews and Israel.
The purpose of a United Nations commission will be to find a way to embarrass Israel, not to scope out what actually occurred last week.
