Not a single Los Angeles City Council  member yesterday opposed Texas Gov. Rick Perry's new attack on the California business climate.

They were all quiet as church mice when it came to criticizing the governor.

I was not.

Acting City Council President Tom Labonge  was unsuccessful in ruling me out of order when I strenuously objected to Gov. Perry's radio commercial attacks on  the State of California that are currently airing in L.A.

I spoke during the Public Comment portion of when the deputy City Attorney ruled that  the speaker had the First Amendment right to express his  frank opinion of Mr. Perry.

Meanwhile from Texas, here is Gov. Perry’s much talked about press release from Monday:

Radio listeners across the Golden State are hearing a new pitch this week – Texas Gov. Rick Perry inviting California companies to check out the low taxes, predictable regulations, fair legal system and skilled workforce that have made Texas the best state in the nation to live, work and raise a family.

The 30-second spot, which will run on six radio stations in the San Francisco, Sacramento, Los Angeles, Inland Empire and San Diego media markets coincides with a new California-targeted section on www.TexasWideOpenForBusiness.com

The one-week ad buy is paid for by Texas One, a public-private partnership that markets Texas Nationally and internationally as a prime business destination.

The full text of Gov. Perry’s message follows:

“Building a business is tough. But I hear building a business in California is next to impossible. This is Texas Gov. Rick Perry, and I have a message for California businesses: Come check out Texas. There are plenty of reasons Texas has been named the Best State for Doing Business for eight years running. Visit texaswideopenfornbusiness.com and see why our low taxes, sensible regulations and fair legal system are just the thing to get your business moving to Texas.”
