I Don’t Have to be Politically Correct

I made a promise at my very first Candidates Forum during the School Board campaign. “Ambushed.” http://www.thefrontpageonline.com/new/articles1-6439/FromtheHeartofGaryAbrams

I stated that “I would be the sixth member on the Board.” If the voters would give me a promotion, I would occupy the fifth seat.

How prolific. I must be psychic (not psychotic).

I not only ran with the platform “Just 4 Kids,” I also claimed to be the “Common Sense Candidate.” (Truth in advertising and public disclosure.)

If you were keeping up with the School Board election results, you noticed that I received almost 500 votes. Figure this out. There are six candidates officially running. I officially come in seventh. So that makes me unofficially sixth. http://www.thefrontpageonline.com/new/articles1-6783/WhatILearnedasaCandidate

I heard from unreliable sources that it was my punishment.

Punishment for what?

Telling the truth?

It was really a conspiracy by the “machine” again. If you do not believe that, contact Ms. Ann Lidiot.

Stay with me now. There are five seats on the School Board. It would be natural that the unofficial sixth seat should go to the person who comes in unofficially sixth.

That’s me.

Under that circumstance I am claiming “standing” in this case.

Okay, help me out, legal minds.

The “machine‘s” plan backfired.

Huh! Huh! Huh!

This complicated new math just gets more confusing the more I try to explain it.

Forget that part.

Back to the machine.

The machine thought if they humiliated me, I would shrivel up like most of the California people they are accustomed to dealing with. Let’s beat a dead horse again. I am not from California. Just a reminder.

Sometimes you do not realize how things work out for the best — if you just go with the flow

As the sixth member advocate for the kids, I am not restricted by being politically correct. Which brings me to the Ms. Maya Cohn Situation. http://www.thefrontpageonline.com/new/articles1-6900/SuperintendentMayHaveaCohnSolution

“It recently surfaced shortly before Thanksgiving. Maya Cohn, looking forward to her third year on the girl’s soccer team, was left off the roster by Coach Scott Mair. The ‘misunderstood’ reason was that her parallel commitment to the YMCA’s Youth and Governance program — also for the third year — interfered with her soccer responsibilities.

“In his suddenly mercurial quest for a perception of justice, coupled with reinstatement, for his daughter, John Cohn, a Culver City High School parent, scored his most ‘perceived’ impressive victory last night.”

However, I say it is no victory if Ms. Cohn’s life is disrupted while she waits on the School Board to make up its mind.

Next Meeting — Maybe

“Mr. Gourley, Board President, said he favored placing the subject on the Board agenda, probably for the next meeting, Tuesday, Jan.12. Mr. Gourley’s obviously popular call promptly was endorsed by his colleagues, three of whom were participating in their first meeting.

“Meanwhile, the clock is ticking on the girls’ soccer season, recently underway. Only two School Board meetings are scheduled between now and the end of the regular season in early February — a crucial fact if Ms. Cohn is to win reinstatement.”

“Supt. Dr. Myrna Rivera Cote: ‘This is crazy,’ she thought to herself. ‘And it has been going on a long time.

“ ‘We need to sit down as adults and try to come up with what is best for the kids,’ she said.”

As the sixth member of the School Board representing the best interest of the “kids,” I want to make a motion that Dr. Cote handle this situation and report to the Board eventually.

I need a second to that motion, Mr. Ari Noonan.

The next move remains to be made, and it is expected to come from the Superintendent’s office.

I am using my common sense platform and making the following predictions:

Crisis management 101.

Dr. Cote’ reinstates Ms. Maya Cohn immediately. Ms. Cohn resumes all team activities.

Rationale: Ms. Cohn stays motivated, maintains her conditioning and does not have her life disrupted.

I do not see how the Board cannot support the student or Dr. Cote’ in this situation, but anything is possible in Culver City politics. Look at what happened to Dee Seehusen.

What’s that ruling a judge makes concerning the probability of winning? Any attorneys in the house?

The next move remains to be made, and it is expected to come from the Superintendent’s office.

This particular type of story is not unusual. Some Culver City District coaches wrongly believe that winning at any cost should be the only goal for athletics. I have some horror stories to share with you at another time.

I have a friendly wager with an unnamed party (Ari) over whether Ms. Cohn will be reinstated.
