The latest mid-afternoon Lt. Eric Garcetti update.
The Los Angeles Times succumbs to constant pressure from City Hall bloggers and finally today confronts Mayoral Candidate Garcetti with his more than month-long absence from City Council meetings in order to conduct his personal campaign for Mayor of Los Angeles.
Website sends a letter of complaint to Secretary of the Navy Raymond Edwin Mabus, demanding that Naval Lt. Garcetti be ordered, forthwith, to drop his mayoral campaign and report to reserve duty.
Currently, he is excused from duty by unique Navy exemption, according to a Times story by James Rainey.
Next update:
Military service reserve duty obligation is lifted for close friend of President Obama so that Mr. Garcetti can run for mayor without interruption.
President Obama’s Secretary of the Navy rules that Candidate Garcetti is free to engage daily with his arch-enemy Wendy Greuel, unfettered by military obligations from now through Election Night, May 21.
(See April 5 Rainey story in the Times, revealing special treatment accorded to Mr. Garcetti, allowing him to escape his supposedly iron military obligation on the grounds it might damage his campaign.)
Helpfully, the Obama administration will obligingly cancel Political Supporter Garcetti’s obligation so that Candidate/Close Friend Garcetti will not get stuck reporting in the middle of his super-close race. He and Ms. Greuel are virtually tied.
Garcetti plays hooky from Naval Intelligence job to run for mayor.
Below is an official complaint to the Secretary of the Navy regarding the special favor extended to Candidate Garcetti, who served as campaign manager in 2008 for the Obama for President campaignL
The opening of multiple investigations by the appropriate U.S. House of Representatives Committee into Hooky-gate.
Below, see an excerpt from a Los Angeles Times story revealing Mr. Garcetti’s Military duty exemption.
Why has the Commander-in-Chief declared Democrat Party leader Lt. Eric Garcetti exempt from his Reserve Naval Intelligence Military Service duty obligation, enabling President Obama's long-standing friend to campaign without interruption against his L.A. Mayoral foe, Ms. Wendy Greuel?
Is the U.S. Navy trying to help Lt. Garcetti defeat his civilian opponent Ms. W Greuel by excusing him from military duty so Lt. Garcetti can employ that additional time in his personal political battle against Target Greuel?
Is that fair or lawful?
Lt. Garcetti is running a neck-and-neck campaign. Is that a legitimate excuse for being allowed by Naval superiors to duck his U.S Naval Reserve Service monthly obligation?
What do you think? What strings did the former Chairman of the California Obama for President 2008 Committee pull to get one of those rare coveted exemptions from military reserve service?
This website is forwarding the above message as an official complaint to the Secretary of the Navy, requesting the cancellation of Lt. Garcetti's exemption that allows him to run for partisan political office without serving his military duty, as prescribed by federal law.
Further, I am requesting that Candidate Garcetti be so ordered to report for military duty at the earliest date under federal law.
This is the same Eric Garcetti who absented himself for the entire month of February without an excuse presented to City Council President Herb Wesson.
