Remember Mamo and Mourn for Him

If my race-obsessed liberal friends, black and white, will reel themselves in from their latest adventure to the land of selective outrage, they should meet Denise Gatewood of Lakewood.

A likeness of a grieving mother’s countenance consumed almost one-third of a page in the Los Angeles Titanic this morning, a dreadful reminder of Mrs. Gatewood’s truly tragic loss – as opposed to the current overheated, ginned-up national outrage du jour.

Unlike the drug-troubled punk in Florida, the murder of Mrs. Gatewood’s 17-year-old son Mamo, freshly graduated from high school, was an unprovoked tragedy.

When Mamo was gunned down a year ago last late Thursday evening, unlike the Florida teen, he was minding his own business.

A true homebody who loved being with his family, and playing video games, Mamo went to a party on West 123rd Street, a neighborhood known as Athens. Perhaps he was feeling newly grown up a couple of weeks after graduating.

Seeking Approval

He did not announce he was going to the party to celebrate a friend’s 17th birthday. He asked his mother for permission. That is the way he was. One of his sisters dropped him off at the party at 3 o’clock.

By 10:30, the party broke up – and Mamo had grown bored with the repetition long before that.

He is standing on the sidewalk, waiting patiently for his sister, who was en route, to pick him up.

Mamo evidently was not talking to anyone, patiently, silently awaiting his ride while alongside others there for the same reason.

A cowardly brown or black boy, armed, approached Mamo, fired at him, despite the crowd, and then sprinted away, bravely.

He need not have worried. Even though Mamo died the next day, and Mamo’s mom, Mrs. Gatewood, has mourned 368 days since – the liberal racists – from the Titanic down to the Me, Too, Liberals who love skewering America, they aim their selective outrage far away for two reasons:

1) Sounding off makes liberal extremists feel better, lets them think they have skin in the game.

2) Thousands of miles from the scene, they are insulated. Their unhappy, under-employed lives cannot be interrupted, allowing time to riot for pleasure.

A year after the much uglier than Florida homicide, even though Mamo was picked out of a crowd, the LAPD and the County Sheriff’s Dept. have been unable to coax forward a single eyewitness. Anyone with information is advised to call Det. David Gunner of the Sheriff’s Dept., at 323.890.5500.

Does Los Angeles care that an insecure black or brown gangster snuffed the life of a promising black young man?

Ask our liberal racists – only if you can distract them long enough from their latest out-of-town exhibition of selective outrage.

Bass Fishing

At this hour, U.S. Rep. Karen Bass (D-Culver City), obsessed with race as a standard-issue leftist, has not shown a granual of interest in the murder of Mamo Greenwood.

Unhelpfully, The Door Knob issued this useless statement:

“Unfortunately, I will not be attending today’s press conference urging supporters of the Martin family to remain peaceful in their demonstrations against this outrageous verdict.

“My Deputy Chief of Staff and District Director will be attending in my place to convey my support for the Martin family and stress the need for non-violence in any protest or demonstrations.

“I would like to commend those who have marched and gathered peacefully over the weekend to show support for the Martin family. Violence does nothing to help Trayvon and the Martin family get the justice they deserve and only distracts from the thousands of Americans who have signed petitions urging that the Justice Department pursue federal charges.

“Our focus should continue to be on peaceful mobilization and active participation toward solutions. That’s the best way to honor Trayvon and support his family during this very difficult time.”
