Judging by the volubility of the tightly scripted tantrums that have been thrown for the past week by the national network of left-wing community organizers, they believe that “racial profiling” is the nastiest portion of Arizona’s new law designed to discourage illegal immigration.
They contend that even if 95 percent of the illegal immigrants deviously pouring through our porous borders, sabotaging our economy and poisoning the moral fibre of our country are Latin, we should profile Lutherans from the U.K and Congregationists from Holland.
How creatively our liberal friends reason.
These uninformed, ruly, noisy critics of the Arizona law must have been hibernating the last 25 years while illegal immigrants — many of them criminals — gradually gutted the economy, the social institutions and, most significantly, the will of America.
Taking their cue from Our Town’s two most fatuous embarrassments, Mayor I Love Me and Cardinal Boney Maroney Malony — gentlemen with weak wills, messy private lives and ghastly professional records — organizers of May Day mayhem fell on their permanently angry faces Saturday in downtown Los Angeles. They expected 100,000 paid and unpaid marchers. The turnout fell 50 percent short, police said.
Y’all Come
I find it frightening to think that most of the professional and amateur marchers — accustomed to portraying themselves, oh, Lordy, Lordy, as victims — actually believe any criminal who streams across the Mexican border should be allowed to stay for one reason. He wants to.
The May Day nationwide marches “protesting” the Arizona immigration law seem to have turned into a giant pancake, a Broadway-sized flop.
No wonder. Their central argument, racial profiling, is trying to turn a lie on its head. Liberals practice racial profiling in the sunlight of every day of the week.
Only, in cloaking their ongoing corruption of the English language in words intended to misdirect, liberals call their version of racial profiling by a different name, affirmative action.
It Feels So Positive
Sounds so soothingly respectable that you want to lie down atop a cushy table, breathe deeply, and exult triumphantly over how thankful you are to live in such a wonderfully liberal land where social just is just a march away.
Just as phony “global warming” was changed to phony “climate change” overnight when you were sleeping because they no longer were able to orchestrate convincing evidence, selecting student bodies based on race could not be labeled “racial profiling.” Somewhere a smart liberal remembered the professional portestors already had loudly condemned it.
How would it look, asked a snappy public relations liberal, if we adopted what we already have forcefully denounced?
Meanwhile, in the past four decades, hundreds of thousands of elegantly qualified white and Asian high school and community college students have been cheated out of entry to their university of choice because they are the wrong color. Their grades were sterling, their skin was not.
Absurdly underqualified black and brown students, for whom counting and reading are insurmountable challenges, are allowed to circle around them into coveted classrooms.
Back in the enlightened 1960s, liberal legislators determined that every university must have a certain number of non-white students, no matter how ignorant and grossly unqualified because it would make touchy-feely liberals feel as if they were doing something nice for society.
One of the most dishonest social concepts of our generation is to say that “students of color” deserve an academic break. Of course, for the deserving ones. But it is the rabble that dominates as university admission and dropout records show. If you can only throw a football but not spell it, that tends to be disqualifying.
Dear friends, tell me:
Have you ever heard of an Asian student who needed the phony construct of “affirmative action” to enter the university of his or her choice? I have not, either. Commonly, Asians grow up in traditional homes where education is a primary value for the family.
Until a day in the distant future when black boys and girls have the privilege of growing up in two-parent homes, the way many whites and many Asians do, they will continue to be humiliatingly overmatched in classrooms with their skinny skills and invisible moral values.
If it weren’t for their athletic skills, they would be digging ditches after their school days end.
A pity that their parents and the leaders of the black community do not care enough for their children to catch up with the values of Asians and whites.
Sadly lazy and unmotivated, parents and leaders prefer to surrender to the odious liberal mantra, “We are victims.”
For this morning’s Exhibit A, I give you this week’s edition of the Los Angeles Sentinel, a journalistic joke that is nearly unreadable. Freely, amateurishly, editorializing in news stories, the Sentinel is consistently useless to the black community. Every Thursday, the Sentinel’s depressing, unprofessional editors find a new way to wail, “We are victims. But Lordy, don’t help us just yet. This is almost getting to be fun.”
In the current edition published last Thursday, the lead headline is, “Racial Profiling Masquerading as Immigration Law.” Eh, what? Even the Times is slightly more subtle.
The condemnatory story that follows was written by the Religion Editor, whose previous journalistic experience appears to be graffiti after dark, when no one was looking. You no longer wonder why racial relations in Los Angeles are turbulent after reading the puerile rantings of these pot-stirrers. Is there one adult in the room?
