Let’s Play Hide-and-Peek To See If We Can Find the Truth

One reason I am curiosified by Barack Obama’s badly misjudged “I Have an Evasion” speech last Tuesday is that there are notable parallels between Fibber and my oldest son, both children of black and white parents.

Side by handsome side, they could be happily mistaken for brothers, down to their low-key, easy-going personalities.

Both young men —I can say that because my son is a decade younger — were raised by their single mothers, white in Mr. Obama’s case, black in mine. (Never mind that Mr. Obama’s mother seems to have wished she were black, and to underscore that, she regarded herself as honorarily black.)

The very leftist Mr. Obama grew up to marry a very, very liberal black woman from the ‘hood. My son married his blonde-haired, blue-eyed high school sweetheart.

Judgment Call

There is no right or wrong here, just perception.

My introspective son regards himself as what he is, a proud mixed-race American who seems to be comfortable, as they say, in his skin, mingling equally in both worlds.

At least throughout his adult life, Mr. Obama has seen himself exclusively as a black man, emphatically not a black and white man. By public accounts, he has shlepped only and heavily for hardline black causes. As a “community organizer,” boys and girls, he never was mistaken for the late Mr. Rogers.

Boys of the Media: The Baloney Brigade

With the fawning, mainly white media ranging around 95 percent liberal, they curled into their favorite fetal position on Tuesday morning when Mr. Obama lashed out at inherent white racism. They thought it was wonderful that he felt “courageous” enough to blame all of them for his “I Am a Victim,” woe-is-me-forever status.

Anger-fueled, crudely spoken victimology is the method that white liberals traditionally have taught to black liberals to scam The System, and that train is chugging down the tracks today at 150 miles an hour.

What we read next day in the media from those wonderful liberal watchdogs next day was predictable but still amazing, “Hit me again, Barack. It feels so good.”

Lies? Lies? Oh, No, Not Me

What is wonderful about being either a black or white liberal is that you never will be called out for lying because your brethren control the wheel.

Last Friday, Mr. Obama, looking guileless, stared into numerous television cameras and said, “Golly whillickers, guys, I never heard my pastor say any of those extremist, hateful, obscene words when I was sitting in the pews of our church.”

Four days later, with every camera on earth trained on him, Mr. Obama said, “I need a do-over.” He tried to rub out last Friday’s widely broadcast lies, and by George he got away with it.

I Heard It, I Didn’t Hear It

He admitted, without a display of shame or regret, that yes, he had mis-spoken, he had indeed heard the cursed Rev. Wright blow up in the pulpit, utter obscenities, condemn white people for being white, and blame white racists, pretty much all white people, for causing all that ails black society. My pastor, said Mr. Obama, had a point, that black people are down and you white people put us there.

For a change, Mr. Obama did not disguise his words or their meaning. For perhaps the first time this campaign, Mr. Obama said something.

Reliably, the masochistic press stood up and cheered, unabashedly, “Hit us again, Barack, harder, harder.”

The Worse He Acts, the More They Love Him

And then Fibber Obama slugged the liberal fools on the jaw once again yesterday. He called his grandmother a racist, saying she was“a typical white person” because of her biases. The liberal boys in the media grinned at each other and said, “Hurt us again, Barack, it hurts so good. Besides, we have been bad boys. We deserve anything you can dish out.”

What the heck does Fibber have to do to be criticized? He kicks dirt in the faces of the liberal boys and they reply, “Hmmm, tastes good. We hope it’s non-fattening.”

Feeling Trumps Intellect Every Time

The coin of the realm for liberals is how they feel, not what is right or wrong. To say that many influential liberals are fools for bathing themselves in Mr. Obama’s sophistry hardly ranks as a revelation. It is closer to “Have you heard about the Lindbergh kidnapping?”

Mr. Obama not only oopsed from his open-faced lie of last Friday, he said fearlessly — knowing his loyal genuflecting knaves in the media would not dare criticize him — that Pastor Jeremiah Wright’s years’ long black Ku Klux Klan-like outbursts were justified. That is why he sat in the pews in the first place. That is why he still is there today instead of turning into a Muslim terrorist.

A Meaningful Measurement

The most brilliant response I have seen to Mr. Obama’s “I Have an Evasion” speech came from the scholar/historian Victor Davis Hanson, one of the three or four smartest men in America today:

“The tragedy of Obama's speech and the mindless endorsement of it was the rejection of any constant moral standard—an absolute sense of wrong and right that transcends situational ethics, context, and individual particulars. And once one jettisons such absolutes, they won't be there when one wishes to seek refuge in them in a future hour of need.”
