I think that DUH must stand for Dopey Unrecognized Happenings. Here are a few Duhs I collected from the past two weeks.
Duh No. 54: Oven Game
Have you ever tried the game of retrieving a fork from the back of a hot oven? Duh. I did. The blister on my hand proves that I failed at my game of operation.
Duh No. 55. Nozzle Magic
For me, the lifespan of that small, weak catch that permits the hose nozzle to continue to spray once your grip is removed from the nozzle, is about two weeks! Duh. When I slid a zip tie toward the grip end of the nozzle, it continued to spray. Slid in the other direction, the spray stops.
Duh No. 56: Pool Water Test (a & b)
a) Over time, I did not notice the aging and subsequent distortion of the small plastic container I drop my pool chemicals into to measure the chlorine and PH content of the pool water. But what I did notice last week was that there was a big difference between the colors of the test water in the plastic container and in a clear drinking glass I had brought to the pool. Why is that, I wondered? Duh. When I looked at a new test kit at the pool store, I was amazed at how the plastic looked like a clear drinking glass. Yes, I bought it.
b) For years I had been holding the test kit container to the sky to get a color reading. At the pool store, I noticed that the woman was holding her test kit to a white-lighted panel. Back in my pool, I spied a bright white border running around the inside top edge of the pool. Duh. It now serves as an excellent background for viewing the test water.
Duh No. 57: Email Contacts
Strangely missing from my email contacts, as I moved the slider down to the bottom of the page, were all those persons whose names begin with the letters S-Z. For months I pondered that quandary. Did I ever think of clicking on that inconspicuous right-pointing arrow at the top of the computer screen? When I clicked last week, it brought up all those missing contacts – Duh — on the next page.
